Sbarro is a chain of pizzerias in the United States that specializes in serving New York-style pizza by the slice and other types of Italian-American cuisine. Gennaro and Carmela Sbarro established the Sbarro restaurant chain in 1956. From Naples, Italy, the couple and their three kids, Joseph, Mario, and Anthony, journeyed to the United States of America. The Sbarro family founded their first salumeria (an Italian grocery shop) in the same year in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York, at 1701 65th Street and 17th Avenue. The salumeria quickly gained a reputation for serving high-quality, authentic Italian cuisine.

As a result of Sbarro Salumeria’s widespread popularity in the metropolitan area surrounding New York City, additional sites have recently been opened. The first Sbarro restaurant inside a shopping centre was opened in 1970 in the Kings Plaza Shopping Center in Brooklyn. One of their busiest locations was one of two that were both located in the original World Trade Center. The one that was located in the mall underneath the complex was the one that had the most foot traffic, while the other one was positioned at the observation deck on the South Tower.

Jaime Salvador, who shared the same values as the Sbarros and thought that only the freshest food should be offered to guests, was the one who introduced Sbarro to the Philippines in the year 1990. Sbarro has been serving only the finest and most authentic Italian cuisine in the Philippines for the past 27 years while upholding the tradition of making fresh pizzas and pasta from scratch.
