Max’s History

A Stanford-educated teacher named Maximo Gimenez opened the first Max’s Restaurant shortly after the end of World War II in 1945. Gimenez made friends with the American occupation troops stationed in Quezon City, who frequently stopped by Maximo’s house for drinks. When the soldiers insisted on paying for the food and drinks, Maximo decided to open a café where the men could be served meals.
