Din Tai Fung History
Before reopening in the 1970s as a restaurant known for its signature dish, xiaolongbao, steamed soup dumplings, Din Tai Fung was founded in Taiwan in 1958 as a cooking oil shop, it has 177 locations spread out over 13 different nations.
The award-winning xiaolongbao, which is made every day by specially trained xiaolongbao kitchen masters known as shifus, is one of Din Tai Fung’s many well-known dishes that are served throughout the world. At the restaurant, diners can watch the shifus at work through a prominent display window. Each shifu produces about 20 perfect soup dumplings per minute using methods handed down and perfected through generations.
The Moment Group, a provider of FandB services and a developer, introduced the internationally acclaimed restaurant Din Tai Fung to the Philippines in 2015 with the opening of its first location in SM Mega Fashion Hall. Several additional Din Tai Fung restaurants have since opened, continuously luring diners with their renowned xiaolongbao. Its new Mall of Asia location opened this year and is the 177th worldwide and the fifth largest in the nation.
