The Congo Grille restaurant franchise in the Philippines takes its name from the African forest decor found within each location. In stark contrast to the ambiance, the food is primarily Filipino, with some Western and Chinese influences. Due to its previous successes in a food feast honoring the renowned Filipino dish, the restaurant is known as The Sisig King.

Congo Grille History
In 1999, Kenneth Sytin and his brothers opened up Congo Grille. At its peak that year, the firm had as many as 13,000 clients per month and was known as “the fastest-growing grill in town.” Congo Grill was a 2006 exhibitor at Angeles City’s Annual Sisig Festival. The pork sisig and another sisig dish took home top honors at the national competition.
It’s a Philippine restaurant with air conditioning that serves meals without MSG and has an ape dressed as a safari mascot to keep the kids entertained. In 2008, Congo Grille began offering franchise opportunities. The Araneta Center was the site of the first franchised store’s debut in 2009.
