In 2012, Burger King shares were once more offered for sale to the general public, but 3G kept a controlling stake. A new parent company called Restaurant Brands International was created in 2014 due to the merger of Burger King Worldwide and the Canadian fast-food and doughnut chain Tim Hortons. The corporate headquarters of Restaurant Brands International was located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, which some critics viewed as a tax-evasion “corporate inversion” move.

Huge local fast-food chain Jollibee Foods Corp. has taken over the Philippine operations of American restaurant chain Burger King, solidifying its position as the industry leader in the fiercely competitive quick-service restaurant sector.

In its core menu, the Miami, Florida-based American fast food chain offers Jollibee-like items like hamburgers, fried chicken, and fries. However, comparable Jollibee products in the Philippines cost about 30% less than Burger King’s offerings.
