Bo’s Coffee History
Bo’s Coffee President and CEO Steve D. Benitez had the idea to bring his American and European coffee expertise back to the Philippines in 1994. Ayala Center Cebu in Cebu City, Philippines, was the site of Bo’s Coffee’s grand launch on June 28, 1996. After that, it expanded into other large cities in the Philippines. There are currently 58 Bo’s Coffee locations in the Philippines, including the capital of Manila as well as the cities of Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Iloilo, Bohol, Tacloban, Tagaytay, Samar, and Zamboanga.
Benitez has stated that “Bo,” an Italian-American coffee connoisseur he met in New Orleans during a coffee roadshow in the mid-1990s, is the inspiration for the moniker. The 10-minute conversation greatly affected him and left him feeling energized.
The Philippine-focused Navegar Fund invested in the company in 2018 because of its commitment to supporting local communities and farmers.
